Every page reachable by keyboard, every gate step-free.
We treat a website the way we treat the farm stand: if someone can't get in, that's our problem to fix, not theirs.
On this site
- Written to WCAG 2.2 AA as the working target, with automated and manual checks before each release.
- Fully operable by keyboard: visible focus rings, a skip link, logical tab order, no focus traps.
- Colour is never the only signal — schedule rows, statuses, and form errors carry text.
- Text scales to 200% without loss of content; layout reflows to a single column at 320px.
- Motion is limited and switched off entirely when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers; the hero illustration carries a written description.
- No autoplaying media and no timers on any form.
At the farm stand
- Step-free gravel path from the pavement to the stand counter.
- Counter height 34 inches, with a lower shelf for seated customers.
- Shaded seating within 20 feet; water jug available.
- Large-print price boards, and staff will read anything aloud on request.
- Service animals welcome. Please leave pets at the gate.
Where we know we fall short
The map on our home page is a drawing, not an interactive map with pan and zoom. It is labelled with street names and bus routes for screen readers, but it can't be explored the way a real map can. Call or write and we'll give directions over the phone.
We post short clips during the season. Captions and transcripts are being added; until they are, every clip has a written description in the post text.
Tell us what's broken
Email [email protected], or write to PO Box 888, Battle Creek, MI 49016. We aim to reply within two working days and to fix blocking issues within a release cycle. If you need something in another format — large print, plain text, an audio walkthrough — ask and we'll make it.
