Compost Happens
Compost is a great addition for any garden. It is full of nutrients that plants and vegetables thrive on.
Compost Happens is a large scale community compost project that would focus on youth engagement and environmental stewardship. This program will educate people to the benefits of compost and would employ people as well.
Compost Happens would benefit youth (ages 16-22), as this program would provide jobs for them in an economy where it is tough for them to find work. It would also benefit the people of the immediate communities near our gardens, located all around the city, because they would have access to the fresh fruits and vegetables and cut back on garbage, which would cost the taxpayers less money. The compost would eventually be used at our 21 community gardens and at Sprout's youth operated farm that we will be running this year.
